The Owner’s Suite, with its lake view terrace, was a popular stop on the tour for visitors, including Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis (far left) and young man about town John Conroy (sitting, right).

The Drake Devonshire welcomes community in for a visit

“Opening soon-ish,” the sign outside of the Drake Devonshire stated for months. Last week the ‘ish’ was gone and the Drake Devonshire opened its doors. Innkeepers Jessica and Chris Loane and their team welcomed more than 500 neighbours to come over for a bite, a drink and to check the place out.

The Drake Devonshire is Wellington’s newest and much anticipated inn and restaurant. Inviting the neighbours over for a pig roast was an elaborate yet casual affair. The food included a roasted pig, corn-on-the-cob made on a fire pit at the beach and an elaborate array of seafood. It was prepared under the watchful eye of Corporate Chef of the Drake Properties, Ted Corrado and Drake Devonshire Head Chef, Matt DeMille.

Self-guided tours of the inn were encouraged and members of the team offered answers to all questions to assuage the curious, including when reservations will be accepted. The official opening will take place next spring, however they are now open for business.
