Dukes staying put
The Wellington Dukes have no plans to move to Belleville says Marty Abrams, the team’s general manager and head coach.
“We are the Wellington Dukes, playing out of Wellington in the heart of Prince Edward County,” Abrams told the Times. “It is the status quo for us.”
Ever since news broke on Thursday afternoon that Belleville Bulls had been and will move to Hamilton in the off-season, there has been speculation that the Dukes might be lured to Belleville.
Abrams says that speculation is understandable under the circumstances, but unfounded.
It was a stupid rumor in the first place anyway. More likely Belleville tries to attract the Trenton Golden Hawks or a failing club in Toronto in the OJHL.
