Drag races on a muddy January day

The smell of motor oil hung heavy in the air as pair after pair of snowmobilers took off across a farmer’s field near Point Petre on Saturday for some sled drag racing.

The sled drags wrangled snowmobile enthusiasts from around the County—never mind that there was hardly any snow to be seen. It didn’t deter racers in four different classes based on the power of their machines’ engines.

Friends and family came and watched and enjoyed hot dogs, hot chocolate and a warm fire from the starting line.
