A promise of spring to come

The setting sun is now midway between its winter solstice and spring equinox position. In Celtic folklore, this was known as Imbolc, and was a time when the first signs of spring appeared. One belief was that a sunny day signaled there was much more winter to come—an echo that we see on Groundhog Day.
