Seasoning
When it comes to bagels my favourite is Montreal sesame. New York style bagels are too big and bready for me. I like the chewy, crisp taste of a well toasted Montreal bagel. I also like the Country Harvest multigrain bagels. I really don’t like everything bagel; not the taste nor the smell which is funny because they just smell like onions and I love onions. My girlfriend gave me some seasoning blends from Trader Joe’s and one of them was everything bagel flavoured and I thought I am never going to use this. It sat in my cupboard for a while until I was inspired to sprinkle on some chicken thighs before baking. They were delicious. The next time I sprinkled it on some soy marinated salmon. I started sprinkling it on other things too like avocado toast with poached egg and teriyaki meatballs. For super bowl you can sprinkle on ribs or wings, roast potato or any roasted veg like cauliflower, carrots etc. My mom likes it with sweet potato. I have even sprinkled it on my homemade scones and biscuits, but on bagels no thanks.
Everything bagel seasoning
1/4 cup white sesame seeds
2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
2 tablespoons dried granulated garlic
2 tablespoon dried granulated onion
1 tablespoon coarse flaked sea salt
Mix everything together and put in an airtight container or shaker.
Makes about 3/4 cup.
