Things are hopping
I likely should save that column title for around Easter time, but things are hopping right now. If you haven’t checked out our Activity Calendar on the website then it’s time you did. Don’t sit around in your retirement and wonder what to do. We have so much going on you simply can’t do it all
We set up active living programs back in 2018 and really got things going in 2019 only to have the pandemic hit in March of 2020 and shut everything down. Restarting has proven to be a challenge, but we’re on the road now.
One thing we did is set up the County Seniors’ Centre, which is a lovely space in our office building where programming can be held. Let me give you an idea of what’s on from tomorrow (September 24) for the next week or so. We have local on-site and online events with local trainers/presenters. Then we also subscribe to “Art Your Service” so that our Seniors’ Centre members have access to online webinars that are presented by people from anywhere in the province.
To get the details you have to go to the Activity Calendar mentioned above. There’s a button on the top right of each of our webpages at www.communitycareforseniors.org Check it out!
On September 24 we offer guided meditation online; Pilates with Julia online; a virtual hike to get your steps in; our weekly social euchre on site in the County Seniors’ Centre; and a virtual educational session.
On September 25 we’re offering virtual guided meditation; a coffee social drop in at the County Seniors’ Centre with Terry Sprague as leader; virtual fitness with Jill including cardio and weights; and a virtual trivia social.
We’ll give you the weekend off then start Monday, September 28 with virtual guided meditation; virtual fitness with balls and bands resistance training; in-person Wii Bowling for fun happens every Monday at the County Seniors’ Centre.
On Tuesday, September 29, start with virtual gentle yoga with Judy; a board game social at the County Seniors’ Centre; take a virtual walk with Cindy with weights; and a virtual hike to get your steps in; and there’s social bridge along with an Open House at the County Seniors’ Centre, too.
In-person Tai Chi classes for both beginner and continuing groups start on September 29. This is a 12-week series in the Bloomfield Town Hall with Michael Gelman and Krys Baklinski. If you like art perhaps the acrylic paint classes are for you. This five-week in-person series starts on September 30 and takes place in the County Seniors’ Centre with Claudia Jean McCabe.
There’s just so much more and it’s too much to cover in one column. Check it out on the Activity Calendar. If you don’t want to use a computer to get the information then call us at 613.476.7493 and ask or stop by the office at 74 King Street in Picton and pick up some flyers with the details on programming.
The County Seniors’ Centre and all the active living programming really is something you should find out about. Ask for a copy of the Program Guide that has details of what’s coming up right until December 31, 2026. Get active, make friends, be well.
