This West Street home sustained heavy damages when falling branches pierced the roof allowing heavy rains to penetrate the residence.
A violent thunderstorm arose suddenly at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday night uprooting trees and damaging homes and vehicles in a tight swathe running from Rose Hall to Wellington. The morning after there were no reports of injury as a result of the storm.
Electricity was lost for about 10,000 homes and businesses around Wellington . For many the lights came back at about 3 a.m., but about 1,000 Hydro One customers remain without power Wednesday morning.
As the storm passed an ominous orange sky revealed the extent of the damage caused in a few short minutes. Throughout the village fallen branches closed roadways, damaged roofs, flattened garages and crushed vehicles and downed power lines.
By 8 a.m on Wednesday most roads were reopened–but not all. 
At right a van owned by Blooms on West Lake was damaged when a tree bashed in the roof.

Although it may not technically qualify, this sudden focused storm bore all the signs of a tornado. The white misting of the atmosphere just before it hit looked exactly like the same day videos from the Fergus tornado. By the way, power in the west of Wellington was out for 11 hours from just before 8 PM Tuesday to just before 7 AM on Wednesday.
