Bus campaign to reclaim County hospital grows
Dave Gray has never been busier. Since he decided he couldn’t continue to stand by helplessly watching his County hospital picked apart and dismantled— the Wellington resident has been on a campaign to fill as many buses as he can. He wants County people to go to Queen’s Park on April 17 and tell provincial politicians and Ministry of Health bureaucrats that the cure for health care in Ontario is not through the destruction of the hospital in Picton. He wants politicians to see with their own eyes the people who will be affected by this decision.
To do this he has spoken to dozens of groups and individuals. He has appeared before council urging their support. In the wee hours he is out posting flyers advertising the bus rally on April 17.
He is charging $25 for each return trip seat— but he is also receiving a great deal of support from folks unable to make the trip, but willing to help out to ensure that everyone who wants to go is able to.
Gray is realistic about the outcome of such a rally—but the alternative, doing nothing, doesn’t work for him. Like many, Gray has received great care at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and can’t imagine his community without it.
If you can help, contact Norma at 613.476.3166. Buses will leave from several points across the County on Wednesday morning April 17.
