Event mixes style, colour and fun while lending support to the Hospital Foundation
Lori Foster has always loved fashion shows. They’ve been a great way to promote her clothing shop The Dressing Room since she opened it 15 years ago. And they’ve been a great way to raise money for charities Foster supports, so she decided to organize shows that meant more than just attracting customers.
Since she got that idea, 12 years ago, Foster’s shows have been in support of the Canadian Cancer society.
When the Dressing Room moved, Foster took a couple years off from the fashion shows. She wanted to focus on the new location and on her family. So her first show back had to be something special.
“What we wanted to do was do something for our hospital, because it was so important and it’s vital to our community.”
The money raised will help the Prince Edward Memorial Hospital Foundation create a new integrated primary health centre in Picton. It would be a program for residents to be able to see social workers, nutritionists, family physicians and emergency nurses in one place.
The evening included the fashion show, a silent auction and door prizes. The models were volunteers from the community who showed off a spring line up featuring some well-known brands as well as Canadian designers.
