Winter takes its hold on Prince Edward County

Lake Ontario’s floating ice banks and snow volcanoes have made their appearance along its northern shore. In a typical winter, the ice covers up to a fourth of the lake. It has entirely frozen over five times in recorded history: in 1830, 1874, 1893, 1912, and 1934.
