After growing up in the County, Kyle Mayne completed his welding apprenticeship in Hamilton and later worked as a foreman on projects with up to 25 men on his team. He fondly remembers exploring the big swamps as a child. “I love the County and the people in it,” he said. “Farmers are very special to me (because) they work very hard to feed us.”

Affordable housing is a difficult issue, he said, because it is impossible to control rent increases.

Tourism management is working, Mayne said, but more light industry in the County would create a better economic balance.

He said he would like to know more about the operating cost of the waterworks system “so we all know where we are with it.”

Mayne said he feels there could be improvement on heritage, environmental sustainability, stewardship and protection in the County.

As for the size of council, he said, “This should have been revisited before this election.”
