Main Street collision
Eyewitnesses said the small grey car was moving at a high rate of speed as it passed the school heading west into downtown Wellington early Thursday afternoon. Suddenly it veered right into a the rear of a minivan parked in in front of the Anglican church. The power from the collision propelled the van forward into another parked car ahead of it. That car, a Toyota Camry, was sent across Main Street before coming to rest at the entrance to the Wellington United Church. No one was in either parked car.
The air bags were triggered in the moving vehicle and the driver, Christine McKay, suffered minor injuries. The 77-year-old Wellington resident was later released from hospital. She faces charges of careless driving.
