Making an impression
Wellington resident looking to fill a couple buses to protest hospital cuts at Queen’s Park
Dave Gray is upping his effort to take a busload of seniors to Queen’s Park next month to demonstrate this community’s unhappiness with the decision to reduce Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital to nine beds, as well as eliminating maternity care and endoscopic procedures from this community hospital.
Gray has begun selling lapel buttons that declare the wearer a P.O.O.C.H.— Patron Of Our County Hospital. He has already raised more than $100 through the sale of buttons to offset the cost of the buses.
Gray is also asking working folks who may not be able to attend the meeting to sponsor a seat to enable a senior to make the trip.
He has already received several offers of assistance—yet more is needed. Gray knows the buses must be filled if they are to make an impression upon the provincial government.
Gray hosted an organizing meeting on Tuesday. More details to follow next week. If you can help, call Dave at 613-399-5167.
