Proudly Canadian
Two days of celebration begin with a street dance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday
Forty fresh new Canadian flags are waving along Wellington’s Main Street thanks to Sharon Armitage, a real estate agent in the village. For several years, Armitage has underwritten the cost of the flags that adorn the parade route—proudly displaying the village’s national pride.
This year, however, it wasn’t just the flags that had to be replaced. The poles and mounting hardware were also worn out. Armitage funded the entire bill.
On the weekend, qualified linemen volunteered to replace each of the 40 flags and hardware.
So when you gather for Canada Day in Wellington on Thursday night or Canada Day Friday, note the bright new flags and their ability to light up the village with patriotic feelings for Canada.
