Water rescue

On Tuesday afternoon, a 17 year old found himself adrift in a rubber raft a kilometre and a half from Point Traverse near Timber Island. A County fire department crew retrieved the young man from the pitching waves using an inflatable boat transporting him to Timber Island. There, a Search and Rescue crew from CFB Trenton were waiting with a helicopter. They treated the teenager for hypothermia and flew him to hospital.
OPP urge boaters to be prepared for a range of mishaps when on the water.
