Youth and speed
Two area young people are cooling their heels this week, and calculating how to pay for a pile of fines related to speeding and drinking on County roads.
On Saturday evening 26-year-old Jordan Wilson of Consecon was stopped for speeding on Highway 62 near Bay Breeze Drive south of Rossmore. A breathalyzer test revealed the young man had been drinking—more than .05 but less than .08—referred to as a warn. Along with a three-day suspension Wilson received four provincial offences notices.
Later that evening OPP stopped a 17-year-old further south on Highway 62, in this instance, near Burr Road. The Shannonville teen, equipped with just a G2 license, was found to have alcohol in the car and in his system. He, too, blew warn on the breathalyzer device. His license has been suspended and he took home four provincial offences. His buddy in the car, 19 year old Tyson Baker of Belleville also received ticket for drinking in the car.
The OPP reminds drivers that speeding, drinking and driving remain leading causes of motor vehicle collisions and fatalities.
