Rough reception

Jack Dall has had rough start to his campaign. He is among six candidates seeking the lone council seat in South Marysburgh. Earlier this week Dall erected nine large (4×3) election signs around the ward. On Wednesday morning he found that all his signs had been defaced or torn down. He fixed the signs he could and put them upright again. Thursday morning his signs had once again been damaged or uprooted.

Dall says the OPP are investigating the vandalism but they need his signs.

“They informed me that the only option I had was to surrender all signs to them for fingerprinting and evidence for investigation purposes or keep replacing them and reinstalling them,” said Dall. “Financially it is not a viable option.”

Dall doesn’t know who is vandalizing his signs.

“I do not wish to speculate on who is responsible,  it could jeopardize an ongoing very serious criminal investigation,” said Dall. “The only comment I could make is that I have been very vocal on a number of issues that may have have put a bee in somebody’s bonnet.

“I think that not voting for me would be a simpler and more legal means of expressing their views.”

Heard recently that something similar is happening in the Ameliasburgh area. One mayoralty candidates signs were put up one day, the next day they disappeared and the local mayoralty candidate’s sign was in their place!

I don’t live in S Marysburgh. I don’t know Jack Dall or what he stands for. I don’t know any of the candidates he is running against and what they stand for. What I do know is that this kind of vandalism is out of place in any election. Everyone who lives in the County (local & ‘import’) deserves respect for their opinions, whether you think they are right or wrong. This outright vandalism shows sign of immaturity and whoever is responsible and thinks they are supporting someone else needs to understand they have done their candidate more harm than good, because even if that candidate does not condone the actions of the vandals, that candidate has been implicated in the desecration and besmirched by their actions.
