Fall bird banding
Busy fall season at Bird Observatory
A saw-whet owl awaits release after banding at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory. Despite their striking eyes, they primarily rely on their superb hearing while hunting for rodents at night, and can locate their prey with pinpoint precision in total darkness. Both daytime monitoring of songbirds and nighttime monitoring of owls are currently in progress.
