Grow op arrest in Wellington

Scott McFaul, 40, of Wellington is accused of running a marihuana grow operation in his home Belleville Street in Wellington. At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning officers of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, OPP Canine Unit, along with members of the OPP Prince Edward Detachment searched McFaul’s home and discovered marihuana plants, processed marihuana, cannibis resin along with several firearms including a restricted firearm.

Police estimate the street value of the drugs seized at $21,000.

McFaul is charged with:

• Possession of Substance Included in Schedule II, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• Production of a Schedule II Substance, contrary to Section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
• Careless Storage of a Firearm, contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to Section 95(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear and undertaking and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton, on October 15, 2014.
