Demolition of old Duke Dome underway

On Monday evening, demolition of the west end of the old Duke Dome on Niles Street began, marking the start of long-awaited affordable housing project in Wellington. The old Duke Dome opened in 1974 and was declared surplus in 2010 when the new Wellington and District Community Centre was built. Budget Environmental Disposal estimates it will be done on the property by April 17. Stay tuned to next week’s edition for a special walk down memory lane.
