It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Rachel Elizabeth Tripp, in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, March 17, with her daughter by her side at the age of 79.

Daughter of the late Murray and Grace (Saunders) Bubar, of New Brunswick.

Rachel is deeply mourned by her daughter Veronica (Roni) Smith, her son-in-law Stephen and grandchildren Carley and Sawyer.

Survived by her siblings Fraser (Francine), Ellen (Larry), Brian, Dale (late Jill), Patricia (Gord), Walter (Wendy).

Predeceased by her husband Winston and son Andrew and her siblings Murray, Kenneth, David (Mado) and Joan (late Andy).

Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and her special friends Ross Chase, Pat Bandy, Glenda and Allan Chatwood as well as her many neighbours and friends in Consecon.

Rachel was a devoted nana and loved sharing stories about her fishing adventures with Sawyer. She was born in Durham Bridge, New Brunswick and moved to Ontario in her early teens. She spent 50 years in the same house and community. She married Winston in 1961.

Rachel retired from Bayfield Homes after 30 years of employment and even after leaving still received Christmas cards from children she mentored over the years.

Special thanks to Mom’s nurse Cindy Radford for providing compassionate and tender care and for always making mom smile.

Thanks to Dr. David Degrace and Dr. Erin Gow for their considerate support during her final weeks.

Like an open book, you are now turning a page into a new chapter. The best part is yet to come. As the pages flutter by, the past becomes the past, allowing the good memories to shine through in perfect light and love.

A Celebration of Life will take place on April 25, 2026 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Consecon United Church Hall.

Rob & I have so many fond memories of working at Bayfield with Rachel. She was a wonderful Youth Worker & a mentor to so many new staff. Rachel had a spicy, wonderful sense of humour and I enjoyed many laughs with her, usually at poor Robs expense. When I was pregnant with my first son, Rachel would sneak me chocolate and bake for me. Turtle Cheesecake quickly became my favorite. Her and Rita came to the hospital when Riley was born and Rachel gave me a beautiful baby book to write milestones in. She also wrote in it, that Riley was part of his first restraint at an early age lol (The day I was going on maternity leave I was chasing a youth through the field between the school and Main House) and tripped and fell on the poor kid?! After Rachel finished yelling at me, we all had a good laugh. Rachel was definitely a favorite staff by all and we all adored her. Rest easy Rachel xxoo
